Muse launched in the US in September 2026 on iOS, Android and muse.ai. It isn't just a chatbot. It's an agent that connects to your email and other apps and does things for you, so it can see far more than a chat window ever would.
Step by step
- Open the sidebar, then Settings, then Data Controls.
- Turn off Help improve our AI models. If you leave it on, Meta removes names and email addresses before training, but the rest of what you share is still used.
- Connect only the apps a task needs. For email, choose read access over send access unless the task really needs to send. Disconnect apps when you're done.
- If Muse has picked up something it shouldn't remember, tell it to forget it.
- Delete individual chats from the sidebar, or use Reset Muse to delete all your chats, files and tasks at once.
Keep work out of Muse for now
There's no business version of Muse yet, and no admin controls. Please don't connect a work mailbox, a company drive or a client system to it. Treat it as a personal tool until Meta offers something IT teams can manage.
What about ads?
Meta says your Muse conversations and the data in Muse's secure virtual machine aren't shared with its ad systems. Browsing and Marketplace actions that Muse takes for you can still affect the ads you see.
Training on your public Facebook and Instagram posts is a different setting. In the US there's no opt-out for that. Only users in the European Union can opt out.
Frequently asked questions
Can Muse see my passwords?
Meta says Muse can't see your passwords or payment methods. It stores them so it can use them without reading them.
Does deleting a Muse chat stop it being used for training?
Deleting removes it from your account. The surest way to keep chats out of training is to turn off the setting before you start.
Is Muse the same as Meta AI?
Muse is Meta's personal AI agent with its own app and settings. Check the Data Controls inside Muse specifically, even if you've already changed settings in Facebook or Instagram.
